Why you'll love this job This role supports the Next Gen Ops Program team in the IOC by turning program goals into adoption plans, coordinating with stakeholders, and ensuring large-scale readiness as legacy systems are replaced. Responsibilities include driving behavioral, process, and role changes for a safe, compliant, and efficient transition in Flight Operations. The work is critical for shaping American Airlines’ future capabilities, enabling the organization to adapt swiftly to industry changes, enhance operational efficiency, and maintain a competitive edge in an evolving aviation landscape. Own the change strategy for the Next Gen Ops Program, embedding adoption, readiness, and communications across all phases of transformation. Design and execute the communications plan—right message, right audience, right channel to drive awareness, understanding, and engagement. Conduct impact assessments and change readiness analyses to identify affected roles, processes, and systems; translate insights into actionable plans. Partner with Regulatory & Compliance and Safety to ensure change deliverables align to regulatory requirements and support certification and audit needs tied to the system-of-record transition. Coach sponsors, leaders, and managers to model change, reinforce new ways of working, and sustain adoption. Facilitate cross-functional alignment across Flight Ops, Dispatch, Crew Scheduling, Inflight, Tech Ops, and Technology to synchronize cutovers and readiness milestones. Identify, analyze, and mitigate change risks, managing anticipated resistance and escalating issues with clear options and impacts. Integrate OCM into program delivery, ensuring readiness checkpoints, training development, and stakeholder engagement are built into release plans. Measure and report adoption outcomes (e.g., awareness, engagement, training completion, time-to-proficiency, utilization, error/defect rates, operational KPIs) and adjust tactics based on data. Prepare and deliver executive-ready updates on change health, stakeholder sentiment, and readiness status for governance forums. Champion a culture of change and continuous improvement, capturing feedback loops and embedding lessons learned into future releases. All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Organizational Development, or related field (or equivalent experience) 3 years as a change advocate (e.g., OCM Specialist, Communications Specialist, Business Analyst, or Product Owner) on technology-enabled programs Experience applying structured change management methodologies on medium to large initiatives Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience 5+ years in organizational change management for complex, regulated, or safety-critical environments Experience with large-scale system implementations or operational transformations (preferably in airline operations or similar) Prosci® certification (ADKAR) or equivalent Exposure to commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) or SaaS solution delivery and enterprise rollouts Skills, Licenses & Certifications OCM expertise: impact analysis, stakeholder mapping, readiness assessments, reinforcement planning Communications excellence: concise storytelling, tailored messaging, and executive communications Training & enablement: partner with SMEs/learning teams to scope curricula, measure proficiency, and enable role-based adoption Collaboration & influence: build trust across matrixed teams; coach leaders and managers to sponsor and sustain change Analytical & outcomes-driven: define adoption KPIs; use data to guide decisions and adapt tactics Change agility: resilient, adaptable, and effective in ambiguous, fast-paced environments Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio, Project), SharePoint; familiarity with work management tools (e.g., Azure DevOps/JIRA) a plus What you'll get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer: Travel Perks: Ready to explore the world?
