Metrologist

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Metrologist for its GMP laboratory in Middleton, Wisconsin to manage maintenance, calibration, and optimization of automatic pipette systems. The role focuses on ensuring precise instrument functioning, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining laboratory operational reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and remedial maintenance on active laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Provide installation oversight for new laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Review vendor documentation related to preventive maintenance, calibration, qualification, and repairs
• Assist in preparing standard operating procedures for instrument operation, maintenance, and calibration
• Address internal and external audit requirements regarding laboratory instruments and equipment compliance

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant formal academic or vocational qualification
• At least 4 years of experience in laboratory instrumentation maintenance or comparable field
• Understanding of FDA and GXP regulations and requirements
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and CRO/pharmaceutical industry systems
• Troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities across all staff levels
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
