Associate Manager Material Control & Logistics

Associate Manager, Material Control & Logistics – a hybrid position that leads the procurement strategy for raw materials, ensuring supply chain efficiency, cost control, and compliance. The role manages supplier relationships, works with production scheduling, quality assurance, and shipping/receiving to ensure on‑time availability of required items, and handles sales administration from raw materials to foam shipment, including inventory management, reporting, and translation of documents between English and Japanese. Responsibilities Supply Chain & Logistics Management to ensure timely delivery of goods and services Procurement Strategy: develop and implement strategies for cost savings and quality improvement Supplier Management: establish and maintain relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with terms and conditions Inventory Control: monitor inventory levels and manage stock to prevent shortages or excess Cross‑Functional Collaboration: work closely with finance, production, and sales to forecast needs and align procurement activities with business objectives Performance Analysis: analyze procurement and logistics metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices; run daily reports Cross‑train with other Material Control Group team members, including scheduling, accounts receivable, financial analysis, part codes, etc. Manage and develop Material Control team members Translate reports/documents in Japanese/English and ensure timely follow‑up and submission of requests Perform various sales administrative duties from raw materials to foam shipment; prepare FG aged report and sales detail report for Japan Maintain sales demand file; prepare month‑end aged inventory worksheet; manage FG inventory and schedule meetings to drive appropriate actions Prepare forecasts for both Production and Sales departments as needed Qualifications Self‑motivated with ability to work independently and collaboratively with others Demonstrated proficiency with SAP, Microsoft Office Suite Excellent written and verbal communication skills Fluency in English and Japanese Excellent statistical and analytical skills Excellent organizational skills with ability to coordinate multiple projects simultaneously under deadlines Must be able to work on the production floor, in a hot environment, and stand for up to 2 hours at a time Must adapt work schedule with advanced notice for evening business meetings, international visitors, etc. Must have 4+ years supervisory/management experience Education & Experience Required BS or equivalent highly preferred 5 years or more of Supply Chain management/logistics experience Account management experience Benefits Competitive wages 401(k) – 4% match on the first 8% of individual contributions Overtime pay – time and a half and double time pay Employee Assistance Program (EAP) We offer a $1200 Employee Referral Bonus Program for both our employee and their referral Advancement opportunities Toray Plastics (America) Inc. is an equal opportunity employer.
