Legal Research & Knowledge Management Analyst

Moses Singer is looking for an experienced Legal Research & Knowledge Management Analyst. This role plays a critical role in supporting attorneys and business services professionals by delivering comprehensive legal and business research, managing information resources, and ensuring timely access to key research tools and materials. This role also serves as a primary resource for the firm’s financial institution clients, coordinating Requests for Proposals (RFPs), client questionnaires, and cybersecurity-related inquiries. Responsibilities include maintaining Certificates of Insurance (COIs), billing and outside counsel guidelines, coordinating billing rate updates with the billing and conflicts teams, and managing matter quotes and conflict checks. Additionally, the Analyst supports the development and maintenance of firm and client forms and contributes to knowledge management (KM) initiatives across practice areas. This position requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal research methodologies and knowledge management principles. Duties and Responsibilities Research and Analysis Conduct research on clients, prospective clients, and adversaries, including background research on companies, individuals, and transactions using legal and business resources. Perform litigation research, including retrieval of dockets, pleadings, and case law. Obtain legislative and regulatory materials as requested. Synthesize research into clear, concise, and actionable reports. Conduct effective reference interviews to clarify research needs. Perform both quick-turn and in-depth research using online and print resources. Support complex research and KM initiatives, leveraging new technologies where appropriate. Financial Institution Client Support Manage preparation and completion of RFPs and client questionnaires, including cybersecurity-related responses. Maintain and update Certificates of Insurance (COIs) to ensure compliance. Collaborate with billing and conflicts teams to update billing rates and maintain billing and outside counsel guidelines. Coordinate matter quotes and conflict check to ensure timely responses. Maintain and organize firm and client forms, ensuring accessibility and accuracy. Alerts and Monitoring Create and manage alerts across platforms (news, SEC filings, court dockets, legislative and regulatory updates). Ensure timely delivery of relevant updates to attorneys. Proactively identify developments relevant to client matters and business opportunities. Knowledge Management and Resource Development Collaborate with attorneys and practice leaders to design and enhance KM systems. Promote KM initiatives and drive attorney engagement. Develop research guides, training materials, and best practices documentation. Build internal and external information networks to support research and KM objectives. Resource Management and Access Manage user access to research platforms, including onboarding and offboarding. Oversee subscriptions to online and print resources. Evaluate and recommend new research tools and resources. Promote effective use of internal and external knowledge resources. Administrative and Financial Responsibilities Process and submit library-related invoices in the firm’s billing system. Manage renewals of research subscriptions and vendor contracts, including negotiation of terms. Qualifications MLS/MLIS preferred, or equivalent experience; JD or related degree a plus. 5+ years of legal or corporate research experience (law firm or in‑house preferred). Experience supporting financial institution clients strongly preferred. Required Skills and Competencies Proficiency with legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg Law, PACER). Strong research, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
