Job Description

This school-based opportunity is ideal for an Illinois Registered Nurse who enjoys working with K-8th grade learners and providing specialized diabetes care in collaboration with school teams. The position is part-time, 15-20 hours per week, and spans the full school year.

Key Qualifications:

• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license required
• School nursing experience or similar pediatric/community health background is highly desirable
• Familiarity with Diabetes Medical Management Plans and insulin administration is strongly preferred
• Comfortable supervising glucose monitoring and managing diabetic care protocols for children
• Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a school community

Primary Duties:

• Coordinate and administer insulin to students as outlined in their medical management plans
• Monitor and supervise students blood glucose levels regularly during the school day
• Collaborate with school staff and families to ensure safe diabetic care and emergency preparedness
• Maintain accurate medical records and track health care interventions
• Educate students, staff, and families on diabetes management best practices
