Overview

Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts.

The Clinical Director provides clinical oversight, training, and direction to the assigned Housing & Homeless programs, ensuring the delivery and documentation of evidence-based services rooted in harm reduction and a trauma-responsive approach, and provides direct evaluation and intervention as needed. The Clinical Director contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by ensuring Housing & Homeless Services are providing the individuals we serve with meaningful services and tools to support them in their pursuit of their recovery goals and maintaining their housing.

This is an exempt position.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Clinical supervision of CSP-HI Services, Harm Reduction Specialists, and Interns
• Supervision of Safety Specialists at Chelsea Commons
• Administrative supervision as assigned

Essential Functions of Position

• Provide clinical oversight and training to Housing & Homeless staff to improve staff skills related to engaging with individuals served and providing meaningful services.
• Engage in recruitment, interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, work assignment, supervision, progressive discipline, and performance evaluation in accordance with agency policy for all supervisees.
• Supervise records management, assuring maintenance of records in compliance with agency and funder requirements; train staff on record requirements, regularly review records, and provide feedback to staff for records mastery.
• Oversee CSP-HI enrollments, authorizations, and billing.
• Provide assistance to Case Management to facilitate connection to appropriate providers and services based on continuum of care and residents educational, vocational, financial, and legal needs.
• Attend team meetings and case reviews and facilitate risk meetings.
• Provide monthly training to case managers on topics such as Motivational Interviewing, Stages of Change, engaging with difficult clients, harm reduction, etc.
• Provide case consultation to support the development of appropriate interventions for problematic or high risk behaviors.
• Work with individuals directly to assess needs, provide clinical intervention, and support the development of appropriate interventions to be carried out by the team.
• Provide crisis assessment, prevention, and needed intervention during scheduled hours and while on-call on nights and weekends as scheduled by providing on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
• Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements for the position

• A master’s degree in one of the following disciplines or a closely related field: clinical psychology, education-counseling, medicine, mental health, psychology, psychiatric nursing, rehabilitative counseling, or social work.
• At least two years of supervised behavioral health or substance use disorder counseling experience.
• Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT or as a LADC I) preferred. May be LPHA eligible.
• At least one year of full time equivalent clinical supervisory experience.
• Demonstrated professional writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Intermediate proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.

• Ongoing detection and interpretation of information on documents, monitors, and labels and accompanying response, as well as to identification of equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interaction with providers, colleagues, customers, residents/clients, and visitors requiring the employee to communicate, as well as detect and interpret information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, occasionally during emergency situations.
• Frequent communication of accurate information, instructions, and ideas so others will understand.
• Operation of complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent phone and computer use for documenting resident care, accessing needed information, etc.
• Bending to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment up to twenty (20) pounds.
• Frequent movement throughout the residence to access, obtain, or distribute supplies (sometimes pushing or pulling equipment), interact with residence, etc.
• Undertake lifesaving efforts by conducting CPR via the provision of chest compressions and rescue breathing as needed until relieved by medical professionals.
• Requirement to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time as needed.
