Our Benefits Affordable Health insurance – We cover 90% of an individual employee’s health insurance premium, and 60% of any family plan. Employees who elect our high deductible health insurance receive $100 per month directly to their HSA spending account. Those employees who have insurance coverage elsewhere will receive a $250 monthly stipend to help with that cost. Other benefits – Dental, Vision, Long Term Disability, Accident, Voluntary Life Automatic Life Insurance – Every employee will be given $10,000 of life insurance coverage at no cost, spouses will be covered at $5,000 and children at $1,000. Generous 401k Match – We understand the stress of saving for your future, which is why we offer a 50% match on employee 401k contributions, up to an 8% contribution level. Paid Time Off – Our accrual begins at 14 days per year, and increases by 5 days for every 3 years worked with us. Maximum PTO is 30 days per year. We also offer 7 paid holidays per year, in addition to our PTO plan. Job Function/Purpose Responsible for managing and preparing multiple estimating activities for the Company in accordance with Director of Pre-Construction’s direction and policies. Responsibilities Implement strategies and techniques to ensure award of projects bid. This responsibility requires review and analysis of proposal specifications, drawings, and participation in pre-bid meetings, etc. in order to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate. Prepare accurate cost estimates at the conceptual, design development, and construction documents level to meet the design intent. Prepare all final estimate packages for company and client use, ensuring all necessary back-up data and documentation is accurate and complete. Plays a significant role in project interviews and estimate presentations. Responsible for developing accurate and detailed project budget and schedule, and manages project to assure adherence thereto. Monitors project budget variances throughout entire design progress and makes recommendations to project team and owners, in order to bring project budget deviances back on track. Responsible for ensuring the Company is managing the long term warranty risk of any given project, through constructability review and analysis. Acts as Company liaison with the design team in order to meet the owners’ design and construction schedules. Perform constructability analysis on project documentation and works with design team to develop appropriate conclusions. Develop and analyze detailed value engineering options, and make recommendations to the client as necessary to meet the project budget. Participate in internal monthly meetings to review project status. Assist in the selection of sub-contractors. Secondary Accountabilities Assists Director of Preconstruction with software selections, implementations and maintenance Develop and maintain accurate preconstruction and preliminary construction schedules. Supervision Works under minimal supervision Supervisory Duties Occasionally will supervise an Assistant Estimator or Estimator, depending on the project Job Qualifications Knowledge Thorough knowledge of and proficiency in estimating, estimating strategies and techniques Working knowledge of construction contracts General construction knowledge, ability to read plans and interpret details and construction code Skills and Abilities Advanced presentation skills Decision making and problem solving skills Ability to read and interpret legal contracts Excellent negotiation skills Ability to work under strict deadlines Ability to multi-task Excellent time management skills Critical thinking skills Proficient problem solving skills and can handle the majority of the problematic situations independently with minimal direction from others Develop and Understand Critical Path Method construction schedules Ability to think strategically and align with company goals Advanced relationship management skills Education 4 year degree, or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience Experience 5 plus years working in a similar construction environment, especially in the area of estimating Work Environment/Physical Activities Must understand vague and implicit instructions, and react favorably in all work situations. Must be mentally adaptable and flexible in dealing with a variety of people. Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this person. Must be able to communicate providing verbal feedback in a professional manner. Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict and make effective decisions under pressure. Must be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for the project at any point in time. Must handle novel and diverse work problems on a daily basis. Requires excellent public relations and interpersonal skills. Must be able to make effective decisions in manager’s absence. Ability to give, receive and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials and articulate goals and action plans. Must understand people and be able to communicate effectively with them. Ability to receive and analyze data and input into the computer. Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires manual dexterity to operate computer, keyboard, calculator, copier machine and other office equipment. Requires corrective vision to read numbers, reports, and computer terminals. Job requires visitation and/or work at offices, client or job sites, so must be able to drive or to use alternative transportation services to assure timely attendance for such work visits.
