Key Responsibilities: Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Fitter/Welder will be responsible for, but not limited to: Read and follow detailed written instructions and fabrication drawings. Perform accurate measurements and calculations using feet, inches, and fractions. Successfully pass a 1-inch thick 2-G welder qualification. Pass a tack welder qualification (visual macro break test). Operate carbon air-arc equipment for back gouging processes. Ensure safe work practices are adhered to, and appropriate PPE is worn at all times. Mentor apprentices and junior fitter/welders by sharing knowledge and safe work practices. Position Requirements: Minimum 3 years of fitting/welding structural steel experience. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to read a tape measure. Ability to operate overhead cranes. Current or past AWS certification for FCAW, MCAW. Knowledge of health and safety procedures. A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within a collegial, yet demanding, work environment. Organization skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities. Communication skills-both written and oral. Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. Analytical and problem-solving skills.
