Manager, Customer Service

Position Summary: Responsible for the efficient, safe, and cost-effective operation of the shipping and receiving department’s onsite and offsite, as well as the procurement department. Provide strategic leadership necessary to meet both short-term and long-term corporate objectives. Seek out innovative solutions to the growth of the business and increasing profitability. The position reports to the Plant Manager and is a part of the senior leadership team. Responsibilities Role in Safe Quality Food (SQF) Ensure all SQF guidelines and the SRP Food Safety programs are followed. Ensure all salaried staff are properly trained in understanding the Food Safety program and SQF guidelines that apply to their area. Work jointly together with QA Manager to ensure program training goes out to all employees and that programs are implemented and effective. Enforce HACCP and GMP requirements. Create a culture that focuses on producing Safe, Quality Food Logistics, Inventory and Customer Management: Manage the overall logistics activities including transportation and warehouse management, customer supply chain management, materials requirements planning (packaging items), receiving of all production materials and supplies, and the efficient and effective flow of finished products from point of origin to final destination in order to meet customers’ requirements. Oversee the purchasing of packaging items, which includes negotiating and executing commercial agreements. Ensure the transfer of packaging materials to the production plant from our warehouses is made in a timely manner to meet the production schedule. Direct a cycle count of raw materials and finished goods on daily, weekly, and monthly routines and reviewing root cause variances to mitigate future variances and make recommendations to improve procedures and processes. Ensure that inventory is accurately recorded in the ERP system, and variances are reported. Develop a thorough understanding of SunRype and our company policies; the SunRype brand, our products and key go to market strategies. Provide strong leadership to a cross-functional team in order to meet or exceed customer’s service expectations. Produce accurate monthly forecasted sales for production purposes. 3 . Operate the Selah facility Develop a thorough knowledge of the equipment, processes, jobs and people. Review performance against operating plans and standards Work closely with team to address issues, identify opportunities, and implement improvements. Set annual sales forecast, cost of goods standards, establish budgets and review monthly reports for variances. Reduce operating costs through systematic optimization of processes, resources and equipment. Employee Relations and Development: Implement effective SunRype programs which may include progressive discipline, compensation review and attendance management. Implement a system of Key Performance Indicators to allow daily assessment and rapid response to deviations by supervisory team. Provide strong leadership and direction to focus all employees on corporate priorities with a sense of commitment and urgency. Capitalize on experiences, knowledge, and capabilities of each employee to build a stronger team. Develop the management team through goal and expectation setting, training, and mentoring. To assist with achieving the corporate goals of the company Understand corporate goals as they relate to Selah’s operation. Ensure that Selah meets corporate expectations and legal obligations. Report all significant risks and liabilities immediately. Pursue synergies with other Sun-Rype facilities to reduce costs. (Share resources and equipment, group service contract rates, parts management, etc.) Safety: Understand all safety procedures and policies. Lead a systematic analysis to identify gaps and implement corrective measures. Work with supervisors to develop a documented system of safety monitoring. Quality: Ensure quality standards are maintained and followed. Work with Quality Manager to maximize utilization of quality resources. Participate in resolution of quality issues. Knowledge/Skill Required: Degree or Diploma in Business Operations Management or equivalent experience. 3-5 years of managerial manufacturing experience, including knowledge of production and processing methods, materials handling, quality assurance, and transportation Strong business acumen Strong planning, forecasting and analytical skills. Excellent communication skills Superb organizational skills and attention to detail Experience leading and developing others. A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement Personally invested in the success of the business Motivated, focused, and accountable for results External relationships: Customers, Vendors, Brokers, Auditors, and Inspectors 10 . Internal Relationships The Customer-Procurement Manager must interact and communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization. Direct & Indirect Reports / Locations: Works alongside Quality Manager, Human Resources Manager, and Director of Sales, US Concentrates and Beverage. Direct Reports are Shipping and Receiving Supervisors, Production Planner-Buyer Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field. FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials. OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing 20 – 35 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet. VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction. HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
