We are seeking an experienced compliance and employee relations professional with a strong background in conducting complex workplace investigations and interpreting employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have direct experience leading Title VII and Title IX investigations, reviewing reports and complaints submitted to the Office of Equal Opportunity to identify potential policy violations and assess jurisdiction, and preparing responses to investigative reports, closure memoranda, determination letters, and other formal communications to complaints and reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual misconduct. This position serves within the Human Resources Division and works closely with leadership, employees, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with federal and state equal employment opportunity laws and university policies. The successful candidate will possess exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive matters with professionalism, empathy, and discretion. Preferred experience includes advising on equal opportunity and employment-related matters, developing affirmative action strategies, analyzing and managing affirmative action plans, and maintaining knowledge of Title VII, Title IX, ADA, ADEA, and other applicable employment laws and regulations. Strong investigative, organizational, customer service, and written communication skills are essential, as this role requires documenting findings, preparing detailed reports, and communicating complex compliance matters clearly and effectively. Position Summary: The Senior Equal Opportunity Advisor is responsible for implementing university programs and policies for compliance related to Federal and State regulations such as Title IX, Title VII, ADA, and the Clery Act. Position Key Accountabilities: Receive, review, and investigate complaints under Title IX, Title VII, the ADA, and all other applicable Federal and State regulations. Writes reports in accordance with university policy and procedure. Facilitate, implement, and document the interactive process related to disability or religious accommodation requests from employees, applicants for employment, students, applicants for admissions, and other university community members in accordance with university policy and procedure. Provide guidance and counseling to employees, applicants for employment, students, applicants for admission, and other university community members as appropriate regarding university policies. Maintains confidentiality at all times. Stay abreast of changes in state and federal laws, regulations, and guidelines related to Title IX, Title VII, and ADA. Identify best practices and proactively recommend changes to policies to ensure institutional compliance with changing regulatory requirements and guidance with Federal and State regulations. Creates and provides training to various populations across the university community. Partner with department management teams and human resources functions to ensure Federal and State regulations compliance. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff to promote the university as an employer of choice. Assist in the development of the university's annual affirmative action plan(s) in accordance with Federal and State regulations, in coordination with appropriate university leadership, development of action-oriented programs related to federal requirements. Assess and report on the effectiveness of developed programs. Assists in developing and implementing metrics to measure the effectiveness of strategic efforts. Performs other duties as assigned. Certification/Skills: None Minimum Education: Bachelor's Degree required Master's Degree in a relevant discipline preferred Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school preferred Minimum Experience: 7 years related experience required Prior experience developing conducting Title IX/Title VII investigations, advising on employment or equal opportunity matters preferred May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement. Physical Requirements: Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
