Established in 2021 by proven industry leaders, Grid United is developing utility-scale, multi-state electric transmission projects that will provide long-term economic benefits to communities across the country, improved grid resiliency for American homes and businesses, and cost savings for electricity consumers. Grid United has numerous large-scale transmission projects underway, and this is an exciting opportunity to help commercialize and finance our projects. We are seeking a Finance Senior Associate with experience in project finance modeling, financial analysis, and commercial structuring for large-scale energy infrastructure projects. This role is focused primarily on analyzing and financing Grid United’s transmission development portfolio, including project-level economics, valuation, and capital strategy. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance, this position is located in Houston, TX. Please apply if you possess 70% or more of the required skills described below. Key Responsibilities & Outcomes Create and maintain project financial models, including calculating project valuations and returns, pricing a variety of revenue structures, and associated sensitivity analyses Build and update the corporate financial model including projections and modeling various financing and commercial arrangements Provide input and work with cross-functional teams to compile project-level budgeting Develop and manage consolidated budgeting projections at a corporate level to support strategic capital planning Conduct deep due diligence for potential acquisitions, including thorough market analyses, transaction structuring, and valuation analyses Provide financial support to commercial contract negotiations Prepare investment presentations and memos regarding new investment opportunities with the opportunity to participate in management discussions around potential investments and strategic imperatives Monitor and analyze market trends, regulatory developments, and industry dynamics to identify potential opportunities and risks Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional team members (e.g. project developers, market and commercial analytics, land, engineering, environmental, interconnection, accounting, legal, etc.) Behaviors – which are essential to success of this team Be exemplars of the Grid United values of humility, tenacity, ingenuity, and grace Build, maintain, and value broad and deep stakeholder relationships and have a personal commitment to making a difference in the community Proactively work with stakeholders to solve problems in a calm and no blame way Desired Experience and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related degree 3-5+ years of experience with a minimum 3+ years prior work experience in a related financial, energy, investment banking and/or private investment role or relevant experience across power and utilities investment banking or infrastructure private equity, with strong project finance modeling skills Very strong quantitative skills and deep modeling experience A passion for collaborative, team-based work with a hands‑on entrepreneurial approach to investing and business growth Strong ambition to learn the cutting edge of the power industry and transmission development Excitement to understand, model, and evaluate a variety of commercial and financial structures, including novel structures to enable the company’s innovative transmission projects Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and work with professionals around the organization Exceptional organizational skills, including the ability to multi‑task efficiently with constant regard for accuracy and attention to detail Detail‑oriented work style with an ability to work in a high‑pressure environment without sacrificing quality Strong work ethic, persistence, and an ability to quickly grasp and understand new concepts including financial and legal structures Excellent written and oral communication abilitiesProficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, PowerPoint) Positive, professional, and energetic team‑oriented attitude What the Right Candidate Will Love about this Opportunity An organization dedicated to solving the ever‑changing Rubik’s cube of high voltage transmission development in a fast paced, dynamic and innovative culture Working with a core group of dedicated and thoughtful colleagues Working on a day‑to‑day basis with highly experienced and proven industry leaders Being empowered to play a leading role in delivering a large‑scale project that will materially change the energy future of America Working in an organization committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion and having a positive social impact Excellent financial backing from leading energy investor with long‑term commitment, passion for energy, and an understanding and appetite to tackle the challenges of transmission development Grid United is an equal opportunity employer, committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
