About the Position

TravelNurseSource is working with job.com to find a qualified Labor/Delivery RN in Watertown, New York, 13601!

• Provide direct nursing care to patients during labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
• Perform vaginal examinations and assess labor progress.
• Circulate and assist during cesarean sections, including patient recovery following spinal anesthesia.
• Monitor and document maternal and fetal conditions, vital signs, and labor progress.
• Identify and intervene promptly in life-threatening or emergent obstetric situations.
• Educate patients and families on childbirth, breastfeeding, and postpartum care.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and neonatal staff to ensure coordinated care.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and hospital policies.
• Utilize lifts and assistive devices for safe patient handling.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record system.
• Demonstrate leadership through effective prioritization, delegation, and teamwork.

Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 2 years of current Labor and Delivery experience preferred.
• Licensure: Active New York State RN License.
• BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Skills & Competencies:
• Ability to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations.
• Proficiency in performing vaginal exams and circulating cesarean sections.
• Strong clinical assessment, teaching, and patient advocacy skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal, and written communication abilities.
• Must function effectively under pressure and demonstrate creative problem-solving and leadership capabilities.
