Job Description

The Med Surg Telemetry Nurse plays a vital role in monitoring and providing comprehensive care to patients requiring continuous cardiac telemetry observation, typically within a medium-sized nursing team. This position focuses on patient safety, accurate telemetry interpretation, medication administration, and effective interdisciplinary collaboration to support post-operative and general medical-surgical patient needs. No travel is required for this role.

13 Week Contract with the option to extend

1 Day Contract

2 Night Contract

Are weekends required? Yes 6 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient cardiac rhythms using telemetry equipment
• Interpret telemetry data to detect arrhythmias and other cardiac abnormalities
• Administer medications safely and accurately as prescribed
• Assess patient conditions regularly and update care plans
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes thoroughly
• Respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patient condition
• Educate patients and families on care and telemetry monitoring
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members
• Monitor vital signs and manage post-operative patient care

 

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in medical-surgical nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring and patient assessment
• Experience with medication administration and electronic health records (EHR)
• Strong skills in cardiac care and critical thinking
• Effective communication and team collaboration abilities
• Experience in neuro stepdown units is a plus
