Lead Electrical Estimator

InServ is seeking a Lead Electrical Estimator to develop accurate and competitive estimates for electrical scopes on industrial and commercial construction projects. This role will also lead, mentor, and train a team of estimators, helping build the team's technical capabilities and ensuring estimators can independently complete detailed estimates.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, excellent estimating skills, and prior experience leading or developing other estimators. Experience with pharmaceutical, biotech, or other GMP-regulated projects is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Estimating

• Prepare detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for electrical systems using conceptual designs, design-development documents, and construction documents.
• Develop labor, material, and equipment pricing for:
• Power distribution
• Lighting
• Low-voltage systems
• Controls
• Instrumentation
• Analyze one-line diagrams, panel schedules, specifications, and 3D models to scope electrical systems, including conduit, cable tray, electrical gear, and equipment terminations.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor pricing and quotations.
• Identify scope gaps, project risks, exclusions, and assumptions.
• Prepare and maintain clarification logs.
• Perform constructability reviews and develop value-engineering recommendations.
• Assemble complete bid packages and participate in bid and proposal review meetings.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor, and train a team of estimators.
• Develop team members' ability to complete detailed estimates independently and without direct supervision.
• Review estimates prepared by other team members for accuracy, completeness, and quality.
• Provide technical guidance and serve as a resource for complex electrical estimating questions.
• Assign and oversee estimating workloads to ensure bid deadlines are met.
• Standardize estimating procedures, templates, and unit-cost databases for electrical scopes.

Collaboration and Project Support

• Coordinate with design and engineering teams regarding electrical system requirements, code compliance, and equipment selection.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams on scope development and buyout activities.
• Participate in owner, client, and proposal presentations as needed.
• Support the development of accurate, competitive, and complete project proposals.

Qualifications and Competencies

• 8+ years of electrical estimating experience , including prior lead- or senior-level responsibility.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and train estimators to complete detailed estimates independently.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods, including power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.
• Proficiency with estimating software such as:
• Accubid
• On-Screen Takeoff
• Bluebeam
• HCSS
• Trimble/Timberline
• Similar estimating platforms
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to read and interpret one-line diagrams, panel schedules, electrical specifications, and related construction documents.
• Prior experience training, mentoring, or supervising other estimators.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple estimates and meet competing deadlines.

Education and Preferred Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with pharmaceutical, biotech, or other GMP-regulated projects preferred.
• Familiarity with the following preferred:
• National Electrical Code (NEC)
• NFPA 70E
• Local electrical codes and requirements
• Relevant education, training, certifications, and practical experience demonstrating the required knowledge and skills will be considered.

Physical Work Environment

This position is primarily office-based and requires prolonged periods of sitting and computer use. The role may also require:

• Periodic visits to active project sites
• Occasional travel to client offices
• Occasional visits to vendor facilities
