Staff Accountant

Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for a full-time role based in Lower Manhattan, New York. Salary range is up to $80,000. Our client is a notable nonprofit with tons of momentum since it's inception, 10 years ago. Their mission centers around: Building a responsive, food network Demonstrating dignified, community-centered food access Advocating for systemic change toward a more equitable food future Key Responsibilities: Financial Operations & Compliance Manage full-cycle AP/AR , including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, collections, and payment tracking Record journal entries and maintain general ledger in QuickBooks Perform credit card itemization, fixed asset tracking, depreciation & amortization Assist with monthly Budget vs. Actual (BvA) reporting Support regulatory filings and entity compliance Grants & Restricted Funds Track and reconcile restricted gifts Manage in‑kind donation accounting and donor documentation Develop financial reporting related to grant utilization Month‑End & Audit Lead monthly close activities including reconciliations and variance analysis Prepare documentation and serve as liaison for annual external audit Maintain and improve accounting SOPs Produce GAAP‑compliant financial reports for leadership Qualifications 2–4 years of accounting experience (AP, AR, bookkeeping, financial reporting) Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Experience with nonprofit accounting and grant tracking highly preferred Excellent communication skills and comfort participating in AR collections #J-18808-Ljbffr Ascendo Resources
