JOB SUMMARY
LakeVille Community Schools is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as a School Social Worker.

The LakeVille Board of Education will offer the successful candidate an annual salary range of $43,497 - $84,878 commensurate with their education, skill level, and prior experience. The successful candidate will also receive a complete and competitive fringe benefit package, including MESSA.


POSITION DETAILS:
The School Social Worker provides social, emotional, and behavioral support services in a collaborative manner as an essential part of the school team and as part of a Multi-Tiered Intervention Supports (MTSS) framework. They work with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop individualized plans that help students succeed in school. The school social worker is integral to creating a safe and supportive school environment, helping students succeed academically and develop the emotional and social skills needed to thrive in life.


THE COMMUNITY
LakeVille is located in the northeast portion of Genesee County and is home to several parks, recreational areas, beautiful lakes, and scenic rivers. Notable features include Genesee County Parks, which boasts a large lake, a campground, and the Southern Links Trailway-a hiking and biking path that winds through the community and surrounding areas.

As a rural community, LakeVille is characterized by strong community ties and a spirit of collaboration. Numerous local organizations actively support the school community, fostering close partnerships between families, educators, and residents. Community pride is evident in enthusiastic participation in school and local events, and a strong sense of identity and tradition is celebrated by all generations.

THE DISTRICT:
LakeVille Community Schools serves approximately 1025 students in PreK-12th grade. The district has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. LakeVille Community Schools also offers early childhood education serving 3 and 4-year-olds. All staff receive free early childhood education for 3 and 4-year-olds as well as free after-school programming. The district has implemented "The Leader in Me" curriculum based on Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. The district is a 1:1 technology K-12 with all students having Chromebooks. The school culture and climate match the relaxed rural community feel. The district has an active, engaged, and supportive school board that is eager to provide the right resources to ensure every child's success.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree from a graduate School of Social Work Program approved by the Michigan Board of Education.
  • Minimum of a 500 clock hour supervised social work practicum.
  • Satisfactory completion of 1 year as a school social worker with direction from a fully approved school social worker.
  • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administration, students, and parents.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check as defined by the State of Michigan;
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organize and manage the workload in the assigned schools to meet legal mandates and timelines.
  • Engages in and promotes confidentiality, maintains professional, positive relationships and communication with students, parents, educators, administrators, co-workers, and agencies.
  • Participates in special education evaluations within the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) regulations, Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) rules, and district guidelines.
  • Administers and interprets assessment data (i.e., rating scales, behavioral data), and makes recommendations to the IEP team regarding IEP compliance.
  • Writing of affective/behavior goals, objectives, and accommodations based upon evaluation results with consideration to the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE).
  • Attends school meetings related to MTSS, specialized committees, within the service milieu, special education referral processes, multi-disciplinary evaluation teams, IEPs, and manifestation determination reviews.
  • Consults and collaborates with parents, school staff, colleagues, and agencies regarding educational and behavioral matters, utilizing best practices.
  • Facilitates functional behavior assessments and positive behavior support plans.
  • Makes data-driven recommendations while collaborating effectively with the behavior interventionists, school staff, parents, and outside agencies.
  • Model and teach students and staff behavioral interventions that meet the needs of students at various tiers of support, that can be implemented successfully within the school/classroom environment.
  • Documents and/or monitors progress on Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP)/IEP goals.
  • Provide consultation, coaching, and modeling at the building and classroom levels using a Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework.
  • Train, support, and maintain a School-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports system within schools and individual classrooms.
  • Keeps abreast of best practices through workshops, conferences, and Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Have knowledgeable use of tools and systems for student and program data collection and review, measurement of program effectiveness, and other measures of quality and efficacy.
  • For students who are exhibiting areas of need related to behavior (with or without special education eligibility), to provide school administration, staff, and families with strategies, modeling, and information to reduce the educational impact of behavior and other emotional difficulties in accordance with a Multi-Tiered System of Support framework.
  • Help foster the culture, willingness, and development of capacity with classroom teachers and administrators to meet the behavioral needs of students within the general education setting.
  • Participate in child study and/or other data-based problem-solving team meetings, consultations, and assessment planning meetings to inform instruction and intervention.
  • Ambassador of the LakeVille Community Schools Board of Education's Policies, Mission, Vision, Goals, and District Priorities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree minimum.
