Junior Accountant

Our client, an independent international music publishing company, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join their team in Chester, NY . This role offers a unique opportunity for a candidate with an excellent educational background and a passion for accounting to grow within the organization. They are looking for someone with the potential to advance to a Senior Accountant position. This role will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and operational compliance of the department. * Job Details: General Accounting: Oversee the general ledger and ensure accurate and timely closing of the books. Reconcile accounts, including bank reconciliations and intercompany transactions. Manage accounts payable and receivable processes. Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries and reconciling accounts. Financial Reporting: Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific regulations. Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors when required. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis. Royalty Accounting: Assist with royalty calculations and payments to artists, producers, and other stakeholders. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of royalty obligations. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures. Expense Reporting: Review and process employee expense reports, ensuring compliance with company policies. Monthly Closings: Assist in the preparation of monthly closing procedures, including preparing adjusting entries and financial statement drafts. Compliance and Audit Support: Assist with internal audits and ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls. Fixed Assets Management: Maintain records of fixed assets and depreciation schedules. Ad-Hoc Projects : Participate in special projects and provide support as needed to the finance team. * Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification preferred. Experience: Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in the music or entertainment industry. Experience as a junior accountant. Skills : Proficient in Oracle NetSuite and Excel. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
