Senior Field Service Mechanic/Technician - Forklifts & Heavy Machinery Department: Service Employment Type: Full Time Location: BR06- CHATTANOOGA, TN Reporting To: Alex Bush Senior Technicians at WMH are responsible for ensuring peak performance of forklifts, heavy machinery, and material handling equipment across multiple industries. They perform advanced diagnostics, execute high‑quality repairs, maintain equipment, travel to customer sites, lead technicians, and maintain comprehensive documentation while meeting safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities Travel to customer sites in a company‑provided van and perform on‑site service. Maintain and repair forklifts, heavy machinery, and material handling equipment for warehousing, distribution, and manufacturing clients. Deliver on‑site service with speed, accuracy, and professionalism. Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and perform repairs. Execute preventative maintenance and schedule inspections to maximize uptime. Maintain WMH and customer equipment at peak performance through scheduled maintenance and safety checks. Train, coach, and develop junior technicians. Set service standards, mentor, and help newer technicians refine skills. Provide outstanding customer support and technical solutions. Maintain accurate service reports, repair logs, and work orders. Uphold OSHA standards, industry regulations, and best practices for safety and compliance. Perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, lifting over 50 lbs, and working in various weather conditions. Field Conditions Diverse job sites. Weather‑ready – wet, humid, hot, or cold. Dust, noise, and other typical industrial environments. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise 5+ years as a mechanic/technician in material handling, heavy equipment, or automotive industries. Advanced knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and industrial machinery. ASE certification (preferred) in brakes, electrical, diesel, or preventive maintenance; forklift certification a plus. Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain complex industrial equipment. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, equipment compliance, and workplace safety standards. Strong troubleshooting and critical‑thinking skills. Leadership and mentorship ability to train junior technicians. Outstanding customer service and communication skills. Proficiency with diagnostic software, schematics, Microsoft Office, digital work platforms, and fleet management systems. Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, results‑driven work ethic. Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work in various conditions, and travel within assigned territory. Valid driver’s license for company van usage.
