Layout Welder Fabricator

MIG Welder

This role focuses on production MIG welding and layout fabrication for custom industrial equipment, with a strong emphasis on reading blueprints, preparing materials, and completing welds on a variety of components. You will work in a growing, climate-controlled fabrication shop where you support the full production process from cutting and fitting materials to finishing welded assemblies.

Responsibilities

• Perform production MIG welding on load bars, sensor brackets, handrails, safety fencing, and related components.
• Read and interpret production blueprints to understand dimensions, tolerances, and weld requirements.
• Lay out materials to be welded, ensuring accurate measurements and alignment prior to welding.
• Use saws to cut materials to specified lengths according to blueprints and job requirements.
• Work across different fabrication areas as required, supporting the full process from raw material to finished product.

Essential Skills

• Proven MIG welding experience in a production or fabrication environment.
• At least 1 year of fabrication experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and layout drawings accurately.
• Experience with structural welding and fabrication of components such as bars, brackets, rails, and fencing.
• Hands-on experience with fabrication tools including saws, drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment.
• Competence in sheet metal fabrication and machine operation in a shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical school degree or equivalent training in welding, fabrication, or a related field.
• Experience working as an iron worker or in structural steel fabrication.
• Comfort working with moderate tolerances where extreme precision is not always required.
• Willingness to support multiple stages of fabrication, from cutting and layout to welding and finishing.

Work Environment

The role is based in a modern, climate-controlled fabrication shop. The facility has expanded significantly in recent years and supports a diverse workforce that includes software engineers, installers, and fabricators. The shop operates multiple welding baysprimarily using MIG wire-feed welding

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
