Senior Accountant

LHH is partnering with a fast-growing construction company in Sacramento that is expanding its accounting team due to strong project growth and increasing backlog. This is a high-impact role offering visibility across operations, project teams, and leadership. The company is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant who thrives in a fast-paced environment and understands the nuances of construction accounting, including job costing and project-based financials. What You’ll Do: Own full-cycle accounting for construction operations, including A/P, A/R, and general ledger Manage job costing and project accounting , tracking budgets vs. actuals Perform bank and credit card reconciliations and oversee cash activity Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) Support WIP schedules, project forecasts, and cost analysis Maintain and reconcile fixed assets and equipment tracking Partner with operations and project managers on cost controls and reporting Assist with audit preparation, tax support, and year-end close Ensure compliance with GAAP and industry-specific accounting standards What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, contracting, or project-based environments Strong QuickBooks experience (Desktop or Online required) Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, or percentage-of-completion accounting Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong analytical mindset with a proactive, problem-solving approach Experience with ERP systems or construction software is a plus Employment type: Contract If interested in this position apply today and send your resume to View email address on click.appcast.io Equal Opportunity Employer/Veterans/Disabled To read our Candidate Privacy Information Statement, which explains how we will use your information, please navigate to Benefit offerings include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits, and 401K plan.
