Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) has an outstanding opportunity for an Ambulatory Retail Pharmacist to join the Ambulatory Pharmacy team and work alongside some of the best medical providers in Philadelphia.

Summary: To provide pharmaceutical care in order to assure the safe, effective, and cost-effective use of drugs for Penn Medicine patients in an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities:

• Communicates appropriately with immediate coworkers and all other health care staff: Pharmacists, Nurses, Patients and Students, and listens carefully to others in order to respond appropriately.
• Calculates correctly and accurately amount of medication to be dispensed based on days supply allowed, age, etc.
• Monitors patient profiles, drug utilization, and insurance carrier messages to assure medication compliance, patient specific parameters are considered in medication preparation.
• Demonstrates an awareness of patient/ employee safety when carrying out daily responsibilities of their position.
• Complies in all activities with accreditation, legal, regulatory, and safety requirements for specific practice setting(s).
• Participates in the established process for assessing, managing, and reporting ADEs.
• Trains new hire pharmacists, interns, and technicians.
• Exhibits professionalism at all times to include a clean professional image, punctual arrival to work and return from breaks.
• Operational Staff: - Escalates to embedded office team members when necessary - Prepares and dispenses medications using appropriate techniques to ensure accuracy, optimal outcomes of drug therapies - Keeps active, accurate inventory in work area and appropriately restocks area with returned medications per policy to assure workstations are organized at all times
• Clinical Staff: - Designs, recommends, monitors, evaluates and documents patient and age-specific pharmacotherapy

Minimum Requirements

• Active and in good standing PA Pharmacist license required before start date
• Pharm. D or Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy required
• RPH in Pharmacy PGY1 Residency Training in Pharmacy
• PGY2 Residency Training in Ambulatory Care / Pharmacotherapy, etc preferred
• PA Authorization to Administer Injectables License preferred
• NJ Authorized Immunization License preferred
