Industrial Equipment Commissioning & Service EngineerA day in the life

Morning flight, afternoon startup. You arrive at a customer site, unpack your tools, and bring a new system online. By evening, you’ve verified pneumatics and hydraulics, checked electrical loads, stepped through PLC I/O, and documented results. The next day, production halts on a different line—within minutes you’re reading schematics, tracing a wiring fault, and getting the plant back in motion. You work independently, make sound technical calls in the field, and leave each customer more confident than when you arrived.

Your impact

• Own onsite startup, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance for industrial equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve issues spanning mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls domains.
• Interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation to guide decisions.
• Commission new systems and implement approved upgrades and modifications.
• Identify root causes of failures and apply lasting corrective actions.
• Act as the trusted technical advisor to customers during critical situations.
• Produce clear, thorough service reports and relay findings to both customers and internal teams.
• Coach field technicians and junior team members; share best practices from the road.
• Feed field insights into continuous improvement initiatives.

Travel & schedule

• Approximately 80% overnight travel to customer sites.
• Occasional overtime and weekend work aligned to customer needs.
• Company-paid travel expenses.

What you bringRequired

• 5+ years servicing, commissioning, troubleshooting, or maintaining industrial equipment.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting background.
• Fluency reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Proven ability to work independently and juggle multiple field priorities.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Preferred

• Technical or associate degree, trade school certification, or equivalent experience in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, automation, or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with industrial controls, PLC-based machinery, sensors, motors, and automation systems.
• Prior field service support for manufacturing or industrial clients.
• Background training or mentoring technicians.
