Certified Surgical Technologist

Key Responsibilities Maintain sterile technique and aseptic practices throughout surgical procedures. Prepare operating rooms by assembling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment according to preference cards. Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments, sutures, and supplies while anticipating procedural needs. Support surgical procedures with gowning, gloving, draping, retracting, suctioning, and suturing assistance as directed. Maintain an organized and sterile operative field throughout procedures. Perform accurate sponge, instrument, needle, and supply counts according to policy. Identify and address potential safety hazards related to equipment, chemicals, and gases within the OR. Handle and label surgical specimens according to policy and procedure. Assist with efficient room turnover between surgical cases. Collaborate with nurses, surgeons, and OR staff to ensure patient safety and workflow efficiency. Participate in rotating call schedules and additional departmental responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of OR Technician/CST experience required. High School Diploma or equivalent required. Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through NBSTSA required. Current BLS certification required (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross accepted). Previous Operating Room experience preferred. Previous Surgical Technologist experience preferred. Strong knowledge of sterile processing, aseptic technique, and infection control standards. Ability to work effectively in high-pressure surgical environments. Excellent teamwork, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to anticipate surgeon needs and respond quickly during procedures.
