Whit’s Frozen Custard is known for fresh, made‐on‐site custard and a warm, joyful guest experience. As Shift Lead, you help bring our vision to life: “From scoop to smile, we sprinkle joy across America.” You support daily operations, lead Scoop Squad, uphold brand standards, and help create a welcoming, community‐connected shop.

Role Summary

The Whit’s Shift Lead supports the General Manager in running a fast‐paced, quality‐focused frozen custard shop. This role blends leadership, guest service, team development, product quality, and operational execution. You lead by example, support shift operations, and help ensure every guest leaves with a smile.

Key Responsibilities/Operational Support

• Assist in inventory training, when necessary.
• Drive brand values and standards through all training and development activities.
• Assist with the coaching, training, and development of scoop squad members.
• Assist with hiring & staffing when necessary
• Provide support for any new software rollouts and training.
• Ensure team member training programs are executed per Whit”s standards.
• Interacts with crew members, customers, and vendors using Whit’s Yulee core values
• Knowledgeable and proficient in each position.
• Trains and coaches crew members during each shift to ensure brand standards are upheld.
• Performs any additional tasks necessary to run the store.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Strong working knowledge of various POS systems, Excel and Word, and ability to learn to use other computer software programs
• Must have strong mathematical, analytical and problem solving skills
• Must be able to read, understand and follow instructions

Physical Requirements:

• Continuous standing and walking throughout the duration of each shift.
• Bending, lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds to perform duties like stocking, filling custard machine or taking out trash.
• Constant face-to-face interactions with crew members and customers.
• Safely navigate in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to multi-task and remain positive in sometimes stressful working conditions.
• Frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, overhead reaching and stretching.
• Lifting no greater than 30 pounds.

Whit’s Frozen Custard began on March 3, 2003, at the tail end of one of Granville, Ohio’s coldest winters. Locals weren’t sure what frozen custard was, and many doubted it would last. Not only did it last — it thrived. What started as one small shop has grown into nearly 100 franchise locations across eleven states.
