This is a hybrid technician role — roughly half hands-on technical work and half administrative leadership — making it ideal for an experienced tech who's ready to step into a leadership position without leaving the tools behind.As the only Lead Tech on the team, you'll own the full picture: diagnosing and resolving quick-fix issues on the floor, training and developing technicians, tracking equipment downtime, assigning troubleshooting tasks, and driving continuous improvement across maintenance operations. You'll also be responsible for creating and maintaining SOPs and STPs, managing parts inventory, and representing the maintenance team in weekly cross-site meetings with colleagues. If you thrive in a role where no two days look the same — one moment you're elbow-deep in a PLC fault, the next you're coaching a junior tech through a repair — this is your opportunity to make a real impact.Administrative & Leadership (~50%)Serve as the primary technical lead for the maintenance team, acting as the bridge between technicians and site supervisionOwn quick-fix issue resolution — triage, prioritize, and either resolve directly or assign to the appropriate technicianTrack and report equipment downtime; analyze trends and assign troubleshooting tasks to drive resolutionTrain, mentor, and develop maintenance technicians; lead skill-building sessions and provide hands-on coachingCreate, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Test Procedures (STPs) for maintenance operationsMaintain and track parts inventory; coordinate ordering and ensure critical spares are stockedAttend and actively participate in weekly joint calls and meetings to share updates, discuss events, and align with colleagues across sitesDevelop and maintain an overall preventive maintenance schedule based on the requirements of each deviceHands-On Technical Work (~50%)Electrical Troubleshooting & RepairMeasure voltage and current accurately and safely; use data to troubleshoot circuits across 460V, 220V, 120V AC and 24V DC systemsRead electrical schematics and evaluate equipment operations based on those schematicsRead ladder logic, download/upload PLC programs, and troubleshoot PLC functionsWork with control circuits using photoeyes, solenoid valves, limit switches, indicating lights, and safety switchesTroubleshoot motor starting circuits and power distribution circuitsMechanical Troubleshooting & RepairAlign bearings, shafts, and drives; adjust tension of belts and chainsIdentify worn or damaged parts and replace themWork with pneumatic circuits involving cylinders and solenoid valvesLubricate, oil, and clean devices as specified in their maintenance manualsMaintain printers and peripheral mechanical devicesComputer & Network SystemsAnalyze cards and chips and replace if necessaryTroubleshoot network (Ethernet) systems, cabling, and I/O devicesConfigure and troubleshoot Windows computersSet up and analyze RS232/RS422 communications between computers and peripheral devicesFacilities & General MaintenancePerform general maintenance, troubleshooting, and operational upkeep for all facility equipment, including pharmacy automation systems, office equipment, and computer systemsSupport light construction, electrical projects, and facility infrastructure improvementsCoordinate with outside contractors and vendors on facilities andContinuous Improvement & CultureImprove quality and efficiency on the production floorUnderstand and promote McKesson's I2CARE principles: Integrity, Inclusion, Customer-First, Accountability, Respect, ExcellenceCommunicate effectively at all levels within the organizationWhat You BringMinimum RequirementsTypically, minimum 0-2 years of relevant experience. May have degree or equivalent.Preferred QualificationsEducation & ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent3+ years of facilities engineering or industrial maintenance experience, with demonstrated progression into leadership or senior technical responsibilitiesPrior experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory maintenance role preferredExperience creating SOPs, STPs, or similar technical documentationTechnical SkillsWorking knowledge of electrical systems: 460V/220V/120V AC and 24V DC circuits, motor starters, power distribution, PLC programming (ladder logic), and control circuit devicesMechanical aptitude: bearing/shaft/drive alignment, belt and chain tensioning, pneumatic systems, and preventive maintenance schedulingComputer proficiency: Windows OS troubleshooting, Ethernet networking, RS232/RS422 serial communications, and hardware-level diagnostics (cards, chips, I/O devices)Ability to read and interpret electrical schematicsLeadership & Core CompetenciesProven ability to train, mentor, and develop technical staffStrong organizational skills with experience tracking equipment downtime, parts inventory, and maintenance schedulesDiscretionary, decisive, and organized thinking regarding best practicesSelf-motivated and self-directed with extreme attention to detailFlexible to meet changing business demands and situationsExcellent oral and written communication skills; experience interfacing with customers, employees, McKesson network, and suppliersComfortable presenting in meetings and collaborating cross-functionally across multiple sitesWorking ConditionsEnvironment: Production/warehouse environment with closely monitored and legally compliant regulationsPhysical Requirements: 100% standing, bending, lifting, and climbing throughout shiftSchedule: Tuesday – Saturday (subject to change per business needs)Compensation & BenefitsExpected Base Pay Range: $32.00 - $34.00 hour/+ shift differentialWe are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards.
