Environmental Services Technician

Job Description This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition and to meet hospital and Joint Commission standards. Job Specifics Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours) Shift: Days 7:00 am – 3:30 pm with rotating weekends and holidays. Location: St. Vincent Hospital, Billings, Montana Benefits Eligible: Yes Compensation: Hourly rate $17.25 – $22.43 (actual rate dependent on experience) Essential Functions Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures. Use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards. Understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious waste and trash. Handle and clean up emergency spills per department guideline, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards. Follow all infection prevention practices (i.e., proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard & isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment). Maintain work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety. Skills Cleaning Proper use of chemicals Reading labels Communication Independent work Safety awareness Qualifications Demonstrated communication skills, including interpreting color‑coded labels and following written and verbal directions. Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed to meet departmental needs. Professional housekeeping experience (preferred). Physical Requirements Ongoing ability to see and read information, labels, monitors, equipment, and supplies, and to assess customer needs. Frequent interactions with customers require clear communication and quick understanding of spoken information. Manual dexterity required for handling equipment, including frequent use of computers, phones, and cables. Ability to lift, carry, pull, and push equipment; work on hands and knees, bend, and set up equipment, including items up to and including heavy weights.
