This job supervises, hires, disciplines, terminates, and institutes managerial decisions over hospital facilities management staff and mobile clinic maintenance repair staff. It supervises the overall maintenance and repair of building systems, central plant and fixed equipment within the utilities management program and the preventive and corrective maintenance program. It develops and maintains annual operations and capital budgets and manages minor construction and renovation projects. Preferred - Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, construction management or related field. Work Experience Required - 5 years of maintenance experience. Preferred - 2 years of supervisory experience in building construction, maintenance or repair work. Experience in a healthcare environment. Certifications Required - License or certification as required by scope of responsibility and/or government ordinance (or obtained within 12 months of hire). Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Mechanically inclined with knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, heating/ventilation/air conditioning/refrigeration (HVAC-R). Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the patient care process. Effective and competent management, judgment and decision making skills. Job Duties Ensures proper execution and documentation of preventative maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance. Maintains proper daily documentation for all work performed including but not limited to preventive maintenance work orders, emergency repair work orders, routing repair work orders and quick open/close sheets. Establishes a detailed construction schedule with projected start and completion dates after project is awarded to contractor prior to project begin date. Completes estimates for departments to assist in the capital budget process and in the unbudgeted capital process. Maintains communications with all affected departments and leaders as appropriate while conducting repairs on equipment/building infrastructure components. Schedules and implements preventive maintenance for all applicable equipment. Manages department operational budget. Performs other related duties as required. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue, and there is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases. Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste.
