OxyChem Pipefitter

We are seeking an experienced and self‑motivated individual to fill the position of Pipefitter at our Chemical Manufacturing Facility in Wichita, Kansas. Responsibilities Maintain protection of the environment and health and safety of employees, customers, and communities. Lay out, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and pipe support systems. Cut and thread pipe using industrial equipment. Work with various types of pipe and fittings, including fibercast piping. Read, study, and interpret job specification plans and P&IDs. Read work orders and schedule work. Assist with rigging and moving heavy steel, and assist crane operators, welders, etc. Use computer systems for ordering parts, completing online training, reviewing email, and other job duties. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 3 years experience as a pipefitter in an industrial environment. Ability to read process flow diagrams and P&IDs, and follow mechanical specifications. Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays and call outs as needed to maintain a 24/7 operating plant. Ability and willingness to serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team. Ability to read, speak, and write English; excellent written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver’s license required. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team. Physical and Safety Requirements Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs; walking, bending, stooping required. Must work in confined spaces, at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work from platforms and pipe racks. Must wear personal protective equipment, including an air feed respirator. Must work outside in extreme temperatures. Must respond to visual and audible alarms. Desired Qualifications Additional chemical plant or manufacturing experience.
