Seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Lathe Setup with strong hands‐on expertise in Swiss‐type machining environments. This role focuses on complex sliding‐headstock operations , process development, and multi‐channel programming on platforms such as Citizen‐style or Star‐style machines. The ideal candidate has deep experience optimizing Swiss machining processes, performing advanced setups, and supporting precision manufacturing workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete setups on Swiss‐type CNC machines, including tooling, offsets, program loading, and first‐article validation.
- Program and edit multi‐channel Swiss CNC programs , including synchronized spindle operations, live tooling paths, and sub‐spindle transfers.
- Utilize guide bushing applications and sliding‐headstock principles to machine tight‐tolerance components.
- Troubleshoot machining issues, adjust feeds/speeds, and optimize cycle times for efficiency and quality.
- Execute overlapping operations , coordinated machining sequences, and complex toolpaths.
- Conduct in‐process inspections and ensure parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve manufacturability and process stability.
- Maintain tooling, workholding, and machine readiness to support continuous production.
Required Experience
- Hands‐on experience with Swiss‐type CNC machines (Citizen, Star, Tsugami, Tornos, etc.).
- Strong background in Swiss CNC setup, programming, and process optimization .
- Proficiency with multi‐channel programming , synchronized spindles, and live tooling.
- Experience with guide bushings , sub‐spindle operations, and sliding‐headstock machining.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot machining issues and improve cycle times.
- Prior experience in a precision manufacturing environment (medical, aerospace, industrial, etc.) preferred.

- Not just a conventional CNC lathe operator — someone who has been deeply involved in Swiss‐type machining , process development, and advanced setups.
- Comfortable working with tight tolerances , complex part geometries, and multi‐axis operations.
- Strong problem‐solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Able to work independently and support a high‐mix, low‐volume or high‐precision production environment.
