Senior Fund Accountant

People are given meaningful responsibility, access to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to progress as the organisation grows. They are looking to hire a Senior Fund Accountant into a highly visible role sitting close to the investment business. The Opportunity This is not a conventional NAV-production position. You will be responsible for understanding the accounting and economics of a diverse range of investment strategies, independently reviewing outputs from external administrators and investigating the underlying drivers of P&L, exposures and accounting movements. The role will involve regular interaction with portfolio management teams, fund operations, treasury, risk, tax, technology and senior finance leadership. You will also support the launch of new strategies and help the firm develop more automated, data-driven and scalable fund accounting processes. For someone ambitious, this provides a credible route into a Fund Controller position as the platform continues to expand. Responsibilities Take ownership of fund accounting and NAV oversight for a range of investment strategies and legal entities. Review and challenge administrator-produced NAVs rather than simply processing information received from third parties. Investigate P&L movements, valuation differences, trade breaks, accruals, financing costs and other accounting exceptions. Develop a detailed understanding of complex products, including listed and OTC derivatives, credit instruments, structured products and financing arrangements. Partner with investment and front-office teams to explain accounting outcomes and resolve complex trade-related issues. Support the onboarding of new portfolio managers, strategies, funds and investment products. Assist with management and performance-fee calculations, investor allocations and fund expense reviews. Contribute to financial statement preparation, audit requests and regulatory reporting. Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve the quality of financial data. Participate in AI, workflow-automation and data-enhancement initiatives across the finance function. Improve controls, documentation and review procedures as the firm continues to institutionalise its infrastructure. Support and mentor more junior members of the team. The Candidate Approximately four to eight years of relevant fund accounting, product control or financial reporting experience. Experience gained within a hedge fund, asset manager, investment bank or leading fund administrator. Strong understanding of investment products and the accounting implications of complex trades. Comfortable investigating problems and working through the underlying economic and accounting drivers. Strong Excel skills and an interest in technology, automation and data. Able to communicate confidently with investment professionals and senior stakeholders. Intellectually curious, commercially minded and unwilling to accept outputs without understanding them. CPA or another relevant professional qualification would be beneficial but is not essential. Why Join?
