Maintenance Worker (Gas & Water)

Candidates must pass an online remote proctored exam administered the week of July17–24. Applicants are required to obtain a valid Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License within six months of hire. Exam Subjects Reading and applying general information Tools and Equipment Mathematical Ability Safe Work Practices Job Overview This is semi‑skilled manual work involving the use of hand tools, power tools, and motorized equipment to repair and maintain gas and water facilities. Employees perform vigorous manual labor under all weather conditions and work under the supervision of a crew leader and the Gas and Water Supervisor. Responsibilities Assist in maintaining the gas and water distribution system. Respond to emergency calls or complaints. Operate various types of trucks, equipment, and hand tools in gas and water assignments. Assist in installing gas and water mains, making taps, installing services, curb valves, curb boxes, and cutting and threading gas pipes. Prepare work sites, including use of jackhammer or concrete saw to cut pavement, and perform excavation work. Perform related work as required. Qualifications Ability to perform semi‑skilled tasks without close supervision. Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time under all weather conditions. Ability to follow oral instructions. Knowledge of vehicular equipment and safety. Ability to get along well with fellow employees and the public. Skill in the use of various hand tools.
