Music Teacher

Responsibilities

• Design curricula and activities to meet academic standards and IEP goals. Experience preferred.
• Be accountable for students' mastery of academic standards and IEP goals.
• Share responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities.
• Take lead in supervising lunch and recess.
• Work closely with diverse stakeholders to create activities to promote health and well-being.
• Exhibit resilience to persevere and turn challenges into opportunities.

• Professional training in a rigorous music or music education program and preferably at least 2 years of full-time classroom experience building a culture in which scholars love music.
• Experience working with children and implementing effective music instruction. Charter school and urban setting experience is preferred.
• Experience collaborating with colleagues to build an interdisciplinary world-class music program with professional quality music performance opportunities for all scholars.
• Experience with or knowledge of Orff, Kodaly, Dalcroze, and/or Gordon.
• Experience with choral education or leading an ensemble. Voice is the primary instrument or main concentration during studies.
• Accompaniment music skills (piano, guitar preferred).
• A Master's Degree and valid NJ teaching certificate in the content area. (Bachelor's Degree is required.)
• Holds a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and is eligible for a CE or CEAS, or holds a valid NJ teaching credential for the grade and/or subject required.
• Passion and sustained commitment to ensure that joyful, rigorous instruction is delivered to every scholar, every day.
• An entrepreneurial spirit, be mission-aligned.

• Exposure to temperature variations and wet conditions.
• Walking and working on uneven and slick surfaces.
• Reaching above and below shoulder height.
• Frequent excessive standing during assigned work day.
• Frequent requirement to lift, carry, push, pull, sit, stand, walk, reach, crouch, climb, balance, kneel, and stoop.
