Duties & Responsibilities:
- Supervise, train and mentor a team of outreach workers/credible messengers, overseeing day-to-day operations, interventions and conflict resolution efforts in real-time at partner hospitals.
- Conduct hospital/field observations daily, ensuring effective communication, intervention efforts, and collaboration, including with the community violence interruption team.
- Review client case notes of staff ensuring accurate reporting and maintenance of program data and service deliverables; submitting daily, weekly, monthly reports as requested.
- Collaboration with HVIP staff and hospital personnel in order to promote a team culture in which mental health, health professionals, and partners support clients in their healing and recovery and provide education to help the survivor's support team to understand their unique experiences, perspective, and needs. Perform case management.
- Conduct daily meetings with hospital outreach workers/credible messengers and hospital staff to review incidents of violence, assessing interruption efforts to assist in development and implementation of intervention strategies.
- Respond to urgent situations and crises, partnering with law enforcement and community resources, as necessary.
- Build and maintain relationships with community members, organizations and stakeholders to promote program awareness and participation.
- Conduct and attend training sessions focusing on mediation, violence prevention, case management and life skills in hospitals, local schools and community organizations.
- Assist in identifying, developing and implementing long term safety strategies for participants/victims.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Five (5) years of experience in violence prevention/interruption and case management
- Valid Texas Driver's License (upon hire)
- Knowledge of and strong relationships in pilot areas and neighborhoods (Sunnyside, South Park, Greater OST/South Union, Cypress Station, Cloverleaf)
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Knowledge of case management and data entry
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written)
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and foster teamwork in a diverse environment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when dealing with sensitive information
- Ability to work well with public and staff members

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Criminal Justice, Psychology, Sociology, Public Health, or other related fields
- Three (3) years of experience in violence prevention/interruption and case management
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
- This is a full-time position.
- Monday through Friday, from 9AM to 6PM. However, days and times may change and will involve working evenings and weekends due to the nature of the work and community engagement events.
- Days and hours will depend on the needs of the hospital, community, and division.
- This job operates in a professional office environment, as well as out in the community. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- This is largely an active role. Some duties would require the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and bending & standing for periods at a time.
