Job Type: Faculty Position Title: Assistant Professor of Biology (Tenure-Track) Position Number: F00014 Department: Biology Location: Morehouse College - Atlanta, GA Position Summary The Department of Biology at Morehouse College seeks highly qualified applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to begin on August 1, 2026. Candidates must have an earned PhD in the biological sciences and post‑doctoral experience, must be broadly trained. We will consider all applications but are particularly interested in candidates in the fields of developmental biology, immunology, plant sciences, and/or employs computational biology. As Morehouse is an undergraduate institution, candidates will be expected to establish a research program that engages with undergraduates, pursue external research funding, and teach both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses, including courses for non‑science majors to support the General Education Curriculum of Morehouse College. Application Materials Applications must include a current CV, unofficial graduate transcript, statement of research interests, statement of teaching philosophy, and letters from three professional references. Additionally, a statement that demonstrates the candidate’s on‑going commitment to fostering the educational advancement of Black men and men of color from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds must be included. Required Qualifications Earned Ph.D. in the biological sciences Post‑doctoral experience showcasing comprehensive training and expertise Broad training in biological sciences Preferred Qualifications Particularly interested in candidates in the fields of developmental biology, immunology, plant sciences, and/or employs computational biology Ph.D. in the biological sciences coupled with post‑doctoral experience showcasing comprehensive training and expertise Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Willingness and proficiency in teaching at the introductory level, engaging and educating students with diverse backgrounds Commitment to pursuing an active and inclusive research program within a liberal‑arts setting Strong communication skills and the capability to contribute to the General Education curriculum of Morehouse College Effective collaboration with colleagues and fostering undergraduate research Potential to secure external research funding Essential Duties/Responsibilities Establish a research program that engages with undergraduates Pursue external research funding Teach both introductory and advanced undergraduate courses, including courses for non‑science majors to support the General Education curriculum Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex biological concepts Collaborate with colleagues within the Department of Biology and across disciplines to foster an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research Dedicate to engaging undergraduate students in research activities and providing mentorship for their academic and professional development Morehouse College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
