CLASSIFICATION: VI CATEGORY: E HOURS PER DAY: 7.25 Hours (Exact schedule will be determined by building administrator). Reports To: Building Administrator (w/Reports from GSRP Teacher) [GSRP GRANT FUNDED POSITION] QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or child development equivalent, or Child Development Associate (CDA).
- Preschool experience preferred.
- To assist the GSRP teacher in helping preschool students achieve the maximum benefit from educational programs.
- Assist in parent training and parent conferences.
- Assist GSRP Teacher with home visits.
- Assess students and keep detailed records of student learning and growth.
- Work with support agencies (social services, MISD, therapists, health department, etc.).
- Share in the development of center activities.
- Be responsible for center activities with groups of children.
- Be a member of the educational team and be an active participant.
- Be available for bus duty if requested.
- Assist in record keeping for CA 39 or other appropriate forms.
- Assist in developing and implementing of small and large motor activities.
- Demonstrate knowledge of early childhood behaviors through appropriate programming.
- Develop and execute activities, which promote the developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Share the responsibility for the health, safety and well being of the children.
- Share and report the child's behaviors through observation reports.
- Demonstrate a willingness to continue educational classes to meet the district's requirements for the position.
- Lift up to fifty pounds in case of an emergency.
- Must be able to fully participate in all classroom activities which may include, but are not limited to:
- sitting on the floor
- bending
- reaching
- participate in outdoor and gymnasium activities
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
