Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Collaborate closely with department supervisors to ensure adequate sterile supplies and instrumentation are available to support daily caseload demandsDecontaminate, inspect, assemble, wrap, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments, packs, and medical equipment throughout the hospitalPrepare, disinfect, break down, and set up surgical suites before and after proceduresOperate and monitor steam and ETO sterilizers in accordance with hospital protocols and safety standardsPerform routine testing of autoclaves and accurately document resultsInspect, maintain, and troubleshoot surgical instruments and sterilization equipment to ensure proper functionMonitor inventory levels and expiration dates of sterile instruments, supplies, and surgical materialsMaintain proper disinfection and processing of linens used within surgical and treatment areasComplete scheduled deep cleaning and sanitation tasks within operating rooms, equipment areas, and the pack roomMaintain cleanliness, organization, and back stock of supplies throughout the hospitalFollow all sterilization procedures, infection control standards, and hospital safety protocols with exceptional attention to detailSupport hospital-wide cleaning, stocking, and organization projects during downtimePerform additional duties as assigned to support hospital operations and patient careQualificationsThe ideal candidate will have:Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to cleanliness, organization, and accuracyStrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environmentStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a teamDependability, accountability, and a strong work ethicAdaptability and willingness to learn in an evolving hospital settingPhysical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout the duration of a shiftKnowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterile processing, and sterilization procedures preferredCRCST and/or CBSPD certification preferred but not requiredPrior veterinary specialty, surgical, sterile processing, or hospital support experience preferred but not requiredCommitment to supporting a culture of compassion, teamwork, continuous learning, and exceptional patient careFluent English speaking and reading skills requiredAbout Port City Veterinary Referral HospitalAt Port City Veterinary Referral Hospital, we're more than a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital—we're a collaborative team committed to exceptional patient care, outstanding client service, and continued professional growth.
