Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Location

Madison, WI | Acute Care

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 3x12-hour shifts | 7:00–19:30 | Every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct inpatient nursing care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, including identification of lethal arrhythmias
• Float to other units as needed based on staffing and patient census
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as part of the standard schedule
• Complete and pass a required telemetry exam prior to start, meeting strict passing criteria for both adult and pediatric components

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of two years of inpatient acute care experience in Medical Surgical / Telemetry within the last three years
• Must pass a telemetry exam prior to start; up to three attempts permitted with specific passing criteria:
  • Adult Exam: 100% identification of lethal rhythms (ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole); no incorrect answers on 3rd degree heart block questions; overall passing score of 80% or higher
  • Pediatric Exam: Identification of ventricular fibrillation, ventricular tachycardia, asystole, and sinus bradycardia; passing score of 80% or higher
• Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience working in a Magnet-designated or academic medical center environment
• Strong cardiac rhythm interpretation skills across adult and pediatric populations
• Familiarity with high-acuity inpatient telemetry settings
