MAINTENANCE SPECIALIST 2 – FACILITIES MANAGEMENT – JUSTICE CENTER MS2 – FM – Justice Center Title: Maintenance Specialist 2 – Facilities Management Department: Facilities Management Reports To: Supervisor 4 Pay Plan: 75 hours per pay period Type: Full Time FLSA: Non Exempt Emergency Classification: Class I Summary The Maintenance Specialist 2 is under the direction of a Supervisor or MS4. The Maintenance Specialist 2 is responsible for job set up and may direct MS1 and labor assigned to help the MS2 on the task. May substitute for lower positions and be required to operate various pieces of parish equipment as assigned. Essential Job Functions Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as directed May be required to perform basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, or carpentry work Assist in facilitating repairs to equipment Keep equipment clean and clearly marked with parish decals Be courteous and responsive when dealing with the public Complete and submit all paperwork required in a neat and timely manner Practice safety measures when operating parish equipment or when on parish property May be required to complete tasks related to cleaning such as mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, emptying trash, etc. Regular, consistent attendance is required Any other duties as assigned Competencies May be required to perform basic electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, or carpenter work. Must be able to use or learn to use a variety of hand and power tools essential to the job. Employee must have knowledge and ability to be trained to operate most pieces of parish equipment. Employee has demonstrated ability to learn and improve skills. Work Environment The incumbent typically performs in an outdoor environment. This includes construction sites, open and empty land, wooded areas, both urban and rural roads and drainage, muddy areas, swampy areas, hot, humid, cold, and wet conditions that are consistent with outdoor projects. The incumbent may also be exposed to wildlife and bugs in the environment. This position may include work performed in an office environment for training, plan reviews, meetings, and project preparation and progress reviews. Physical Demands Heavy work. Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting, lowering, pulling, pushing and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel and climb in order to complete various job duties. Must be able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods, sometimes on uneven or rough terrain in various weather conditions. If someone can do heavy work, we determine that he or she can also do medium, light, and sedentary work. Required Education/Qualifications A high school diploma or equivalent GED and minimum of two years of relevant experience required. Position requires a valid Driver’s License and may require a valid Class “A” CDL License. Employee must maintain any certifications required for area assigned.
