Job Description And Duties Performs laboratory testing of specimens submitted to the Clinical Laboratory. Demonstrates competence, experience, and working knowledge in all areas of the Clinical Laboratory, including Hematology, Chemistry, Bacteriology, Serology, and other related disciplines. Reports abnormal or critical values in accordance with policy. Working Conditions Physical Demands: Requires sufficient strength to lift up to 50 lbs when team‑lifting, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform duties. Typical Working Conditions: Interaction with clients, nursing staff, other disciplines, and the public; potential exposure to communicable diseases and blood‑borne pathogens; may require prolonged sitting or standing. The position is located at the Porterville Developmental Center. Special Requirements Drug Screening must be passed prior to hiring. Background Investigation must be cleared prior to hiring. Medical Clearance must be obtained prior to hiring. Application Requirements Applicants must submit the standard state application (STD 678) and a copy of a clinical laboratory technologist license or an equivalent license. Additionally, applicants must succeed in the Clinical Laboratory Technologist (Safety) Examination administered by the Department of State Hospitals, as well as complete the required application documentation. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed in the classification specification.
