Job Summary:

Quaker Houghton, a world-leading specialty chemicals manufacturer specializing in industrial fluids, is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join their team as an Accountant II. In this role, the Accountant II will be responsible for overseeing cost accounting activities, monitoring manufacturing plants, and reporting financial and operational aspects of the business related to inventory and costs. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager and works closely with cross-functional teams within the company. What you will do:

• Manage month-end cost accounting activities for multiple locations.
• Ensure monthly reconciliation of all inventory accounts and investigate and correct any variances.
• Maintain the integrity of the inventory and standard costs system, including monthly raw material standard cost uploads.
• Assist in preparation and calculate annual labor and overhead absorption rates.
• Maintain inventory AAI's (Account Alias Index).
• Prepare and perform inventory reserve calculations.
• Prepare freight reconciliations.
• Manage inventory and production variance schedules and investigate significant variances or fluctuations.
• Prepare and report on monthly sales volume analysis.
• Prepare quarterly disaggregated flux analysis and SAB 104 calculations
• Provide support for bi-annual physical inventories.
• Complete and file monthly and annual government reports and surveys.
• Support interim (quarterly) and year-end audit processes, including developing audit schedules, data, and work papers.

Key Experiences Desired:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Minimum of 3 years of related accounting/manufacturing experience required, with experience in cost accounting.
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or master's degree is a plus.
• Business process development experience and knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma is a plus.
• Solid understanding of accounting ERP systems required; JD Edwards experience is a plus.
• Accounting experience in a manufacturing organization, including experience in building standard bill of materials and analyzing manufacturing variances, is required.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with Insight is a plus.
