Vendor Managed Inventory Team Lead

YOUR NEXT OPPORTUNITY: The Procurement Team Lead will manage a work group responsible for the procurement of engineered equipment, commodities, permanent plant materials, and small tools and supplies. This position is a working manager role that will execute contractual obligations while providing oversight, support, and mentorship to Procurement Agents and Sr. Procurement Agents. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Monitor, evaluate, and mentor the team to meet or exceed performance goals. Ensure compliance with procurement policies and strict documentation requirements. Oversee and plan all aspects of procurement from pre‑bid closeout through execution. Manage people and projects within the assigned region to pursue cost savings and implement process standardization efficiencies. Co‑mentor and provide performance evaluation input to the Regional Procurement Manager. Support estimating by contacting suppliers for budgetary quotations during bid preparation. Represent the company in contract negotiations, formulating policies with suppliers, and consulting with attorneys and senior management for commercial competitiveness. Monitor the execution of the competitive bid process via RFPs or RFQs for the team. Lead the qualification and evaluation process for suppliers of materials and equipment. Conduct aggregated sourcing events across regions to drive procurement value. Collaborate with the Center of Excellence on larger category strategy initiatives aimed at increasing margin and process efficiencies. Review internal and external metrics for suppliers, procurement, and operations; identify root causes and mitigation actions with the Regional Procurement Manager. Ensure recommended awards are in accordance with the approved decision model and delegation of authority. Maintain mutually beneficial supplier relationships through Supplier Relationship Management (SRM). Analyze market and delivery systems to assess current and future material availability; provide feedback to enhance decision‑making. Communicate and enforce procurement policies and procedures. Prepare financial projections, delivery schedules, and procurement reporting. Develop and review procurement analytics, reporting, and deliverables. Oversee the creation of procurement and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures. Review materials for accuracy upon receipt and manage the material review process. Enter documentation into the purchasing system; review and approve invoices; resolve invoice issues with vendors and A/P. Oversee the use of third‑party nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) and facilitate proper credit for returned materials. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL: Thorough knowledge of electrical and construction procurement. Strong delegation skills and ability to balance people oversight with project execution. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Supervisory experience and proven ability to mentor procurement agents. Self‑motivated, proactive, and effective team player capable of working without supervision. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, etc.) and support for ongoing process improvement initiatives. Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Professionalism in interactions with employees, management, vendors, clients, and others. WHAT YOU BRING TO US: Minimum of 5 years of electrical procurement experience. Bachelor’s degree. Combination of education, training, and relevant experience. TRAVEL: Up to 10%. WORKING CONDITIONS: General indoor work with varying environmental conditions (fluorescent lighting, air conditioning). Work involves lengthy periods of sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, and occasional lifting up to 30 lbs. Noise level is usually low to medium; it can be loud on the job site.
