Medical Director – Torrance Companion Animal Hospital

PetVet Care Centers is looking for a compassionate, skilled Medical Director to lead veterinary care at our Torrance Companion Animal Hospital. The role involves clinical practice, team leadership, and operational oversight, working closely with the Hospital Manager and Regional Director.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain high-quality progressive veterinary care and set medical standards.
• Develop and enforce medical policies, ensuring compliance with state and professional regulations.
• Provide clinical practice, including patient care and handling of controlled drugs.
• Manage client, veterinary, and board complaints and recommend resolutions.
• Mentor and serve as a role model for staff veterinarians; lead candidate interviews and workforce development.
• Identify new service opportunities, monitor key performance indicators, and manage budgets for equipment and inventory.
• Conduct regular doctor meetings; ensure effective communication across the practice.
• Other duties as assigned by the Hospital Manager.

Qualifications (Required)

• DVM or VMD from an accredited institution.
• Current State Veterinary License and DEA registration.
• 3–5+ years of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Strong diagnostic, clinical, surgical, and dental skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team orientation, compassionate care commitment, and leadership ability.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.

Pay Range

$200,000 to $225,000 USD.

Location

The role is located at Torrance Companion Animal Hospital in Torrance, California, serving cats and dogs with comprehensive services 6 days a week, including emergency and urgent care.
