Position Overview
HireIQ is seeking a Property Controller for a confidential real estate client. You’ll oversee accounting for multiple property entities, lead the monthly close, and prepare entity-level and consolidated financial reporting for the CFO.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the accounting team, including accountants and accounts receivable and payable staff
- Review journal entries, trial balances, and monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements
- Prepare entity-level and consolidated financial statements
- Oversee tenant charges, management fees, and payroll allocations across entities
- Review CAM and tax reconciliations, including recovery of eligible expenses, before they are issued to tenants
- Lead the annual budget process with input from property managers and leasing staff; compare budgets with prior-year results and explain variances
- Review fixed asset schedules and record depreciation and amortization for assets, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions
- Coordinate year-end workpapers for tax preparation, support external audits, and assist the CFO with regulatory reporting
- Take on other accounting projects as needed
Qualifications
- Experience leading an accounting team and reviewing its work
- Strong background in real estate accounting, monthly close, and financial reporting
- Familiarity with tenant billing, CAM and tax reconciliations, budgeting, and fixed asset accounting
