Summary
Under the Central Transport Cost center the Central Transporter provides safe and timely transport for patients through the hospital.

Job Duties

• Assists with lifting moving and positioning patients at the technologists request
• Transports or moves patients with appropriate awareness of uniqueness of patient ranging from infant to adult
• Clean and Sterilize Instrument trays using established procedures
• Demonstrates knowledge of techniques procedures and correct use of protective barrier equipment
• Properly clean and maintain Medical Equipment
• Washes stretchers between each patients use and places a clean bath blanket on the stretcher

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• Less than 1 year experience in a distribution center or related field
• Ability to analyze organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Ability to build comprehensive reports and effectively convey information to others.
• Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force) lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patients weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling bending squatting and performing CPR.
