Hot Food Bar Clerk

Our Melville Uncle Giuseppe's Store is actively seeking a PT Clerk (Kitchen) for its Hot Food Bar! This individual will assist in the preparation of delicious dishes, will cart them to the hot bar and ensure that each food item is replenished as it is needed. This new hire will perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, mixing and blending, and preparing dishes, sides, and sauces according to store recipes. A great Hot Food Bar Clerk will be quick and diligent and willing to improve on the job. You will be detailed and able to follow instructions as well as all health and safety rules within the kitchen. The ideal candidate will also be able to function in a fast-paced, busy environment as a part of a team. Since this position is customer service focused working with customers regarding their questions, our new hire must speak, understand and communicate in English. Responsibilities Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat etc. as indicated for each shift Will deliver prepared food to the hot bar, replenishing each item as needed. This includes all hot dishes, soups, sandwiches, fried and rotisserie chicken, hero sandwiches and all other hot food items Clean the hot food bar, wiping down the counters and serving area each time new food is delivered and during the course of each shift Prepare simple dishes such as salads, entrees etc. Ensure all food and other items are stored properly Comply with nutrition and sanitation guidelines Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Must be 18 years or older Proven experience as hot food bar clerk or prep clerk is desired Knowledge of health and safety rules in a kitchen Manual dexterity able to operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils A team player with good communication skills Must be able to speak, read and understand the English language Patient with an ability to stay positive under pressure Very good physical condition and endurance We offer an excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), 50% off lunch, 25% off store shopping and more!
