SPORTS AND TOURISM SALES COORDINATOR

BRIEF DESCRIPTION The purpose of this job is to aggressively research, identify and bid on sporting events, while effectively promoting and selling Wichita Falls as the ideal host location. Other responsibilities include assisting with the planning, marketing and coordinating of both sports event and other events as necessary. This consists of being pro‑active in initiating and following event leads, compiling bid packets, making bid presentations, facilitating site visits and coordinating with hoteliers, venues, planners, caterers and all other necessary event aspects. This position’s schedule includes 35% of weekend and evening hours as required, as well as 20% travel. Actively solicit new and renewal event business opportunities by researching sporting events, conducting effective sales calls and marketing Wichita Falls to event professionals. Work closely with marketing staff to compile all pertinent event information and develop custom bid packets for events. This includes making presentations, providing planning guides, promotional materials and conducting site visits. Achieve monthly/quarterly sales goals. Assist meeting and event planners with the planning, coordination, and logistics of their event. This can include venue set‑ups, catering, audio‑visual needs, transportation, ancillary off‑site events and all other event aspects as needed. Aggressively seek new business and industry contacts while also maintaining excellent working relationships with industry organizations and local community partners. Work closely with the Senior Sales and Services Coordinator on sales and event reporting. Remain current on national industry trends and local market changes. Occasionally represent the CVB at City functions. JOB REQUIREMENTS Experience – Related Requirements: Over two years and up to and including four years. Vocational/Educational Preparation: Requires Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education.
