Physician - Internal Medicine, Hospital Medicine, Director of Research (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Position Overview The Ohio State University College of Medicine’s Division of Hospital Medicine seeks a Director of Research to develop a nationally recognized research program within the sub‑specialty of Hospital Medicine. The role is on the tenure‑track, with academic rank and salary commensurate with education and experience. The Director will build an externally funded independent research program, lead research initiatives, and provide mentorship to faculty, trainees, and students. Expertise in research administration is desired but not mandatory. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor a research strategic plan within the Division of Hospital Medicine.
  • Serve as a resource for research methodology, project planning, and champion a culture of discovery.
  • Mentor faculty, trainees, and students to ensure sound project planning, execution, data analysis, and publication of results.
  • Work closely with faculty to develop research plans and proposals with an emphasis on future external funding through identifying funding sources, grant workshops, and collaborative research opportunities.
  • Provide assistance with the management of research budgets and research conflicts; oversee research staff; develop, maintain, and circulate research reports.
  • Serve on divisional committees and potentially on departmental or institutional committees.
Requirements MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent degree with formal training or credentials in a relevant discipline. Ability to obtain a full medical license in the state of Ohio. An actively funded research program in basic, translational, clinical, or health services research designed to improve the practice of medicine. A record of scholarly achievement and funding capabilities appropriate to the applicant’s seniority and professional experience. Experience in research mentorship. Exceptional organizational and communication skills for work in an interdisciplinary department. High productivity in peer‑reviewed publications and presentations. Demonstrated ability to build collaborative research relationships locally, regionally, or nationally. Current journal editor or experience on an editorial board. Qualifications for an academic appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor rank. Preferred Qualifications PhD, MPH, or equivalent experience preferred.
