We are seeking a dedicated ASCP Certified Phlebotomy Technician to join our healthcare team in a regional medical facility serving the Southern Gulf Coast area. This part-time, on-site role involves precise collection and documentation of blood specimens, ensuring patient safety and adherence to laboratory standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Record phlebotomy collection details accurately into the Laboratory Information System, including patient identification, collection, and receipt times.
• Perform venipunctures, finger sticks for adults and children, and heel sticks for infants following established protocols.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of phlebotomy and supply areas, as well as patient waiting spaces.
• Adhere strictly to patient identification policies, labeling samples in the presence of patients.
• Collect chain of custody urine samples with proper documentation.
• Follow laboratory safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Demonstrate proficiency with laboratory computer systems for order entry and verification of medical necessity.
• Assist with outpatient order checks, result faxing, and follow-up on collection issues.
• Manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring proper stock rotation and viability.
• Operate patient equipment safely and comply with alarm system policies.
• Stay informed on testing methods and reference requirements to effectively communicate with patients.
• Work independently with minimal supervision and contribute to team efforts during off-shift or crisis situations.
• Maintain positive working relationships with healthcare staff and support a safe patient care environment.

Education and Experience

Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (ASCP or equivalent) is required. Previous experience in a clinical laboratory or hospital setting is preferred.
