Prepare/ set up food & utensils correctly, timely & according to the daily menus. Receives, checks and dates all incoming food products & paper goods daily and accurately. Prepares & stores food in accordance with NYS Health Code requirements. Maintains the kitchen/ storage area according to sanitary and safety standards and observes proper personal hygiene/ handing washing requirements at all times. Assists with obtaining the proper materials and equipment for the preparation of food and maintenance of the kitchen. Assists with monthly inventory and is accurate & timely. Responsible for staying up to date on procedures and best practices by attending all trainings as instructed & approved. Actively participating and demonstrating the ability to implement new techniques once trained. QualificationsRequirements High School Diploma or GED preferred, minimum requirement is ability to read and write without assistance and comprehend program forms, training materials and procedures. Experience working in food service desirable. Must provide on a biennial basis a physical from a licensed health care provider, clearing you under New York State Day Care regulations. Background check is required prior to employment as required by NYS Day Care regulations and Federal Head Start Performance Standards. Knowledge and understanding of issues related to individuals and families in poverty. Ability to build upon the strengths of those we serve with diverse racial, cultural, social, educational and economic backgrounds, including high risk populations, to provide high-level services and lasting solutions to fit each individual’s and family’s needs. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work as part of an agency wide team. Possess a NYS valid Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.
