Job Details Title: Associate Director of Gift Planning (ADGP) Location: DHQ-Development – Boise ID / Treasure Valley Area Salary: $80,000.00 per year Hours per Week: 40 Employment Status: Exempt / Full Time Number of Positions: 1 Closing Date: May 26, 2026 Position Summary The Associate Director of Gift Planning (ADGP) is a territorial recognized position within the Gift Planning program. The ADGP supports Directors of Gift Planning (DGPs) to achieve annual gift activity goals by helping to identify, cultivate, solicit, secure, and steward individual donors and targeted deferred gifts. ADGPs participate in the implementation of each DGP’s Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP). Desired Qualifications Strong desire to serve donors and team members. Strong desire to learn, grow, and work on a team to achieve set goals. Bachelor’s degree in marketing, sales, finance, or a related field. Preference for advanced degree or certification such as CFP, MBA, JD, CPA, CSPG or CAP. Comfortable with technical conversations involving financial or legal concepts. Ability to develop creative options and present choices to an audience. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain accurate records. Self‑motivated, articulate, people‑ and goal‑oriented; able to work in a fast‑paced environment and maintain poise under pressure; works well independently or as a team member. Professional appearance. Ability to maintain confidentiality and sensitivity in relation to information and documentation. Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and ability to learn CRM and application software readily. Ability to travel for training, conferences, and donor face‑to‑face visits. Associate Director of Gift Planning Duties & Responsibilities At the direction of the lead DGP, the ADGP supports all DGPs within their division. The ADGP does not have gift production goals but supports the DGPs in identifying, cultivating, finalizing, and stewarding gift plan commitments through management, marketing, metrics, and training activities. Management Assist with all gift planning activities within the assigned coverage area. Build relationships with appropriate Corps Officers and staff in the area. Work with donors to establish life‑income plans such as charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, and bequest commitments. Maintain annual stewardship for all living bequest donors in the area. Maintain accurate donor records for communication and for the DGPs as requested. Visit donors, advisors, and Corps on a limited basis as directed by the DGP. Build relationships with professionals such as CPAs, CFPs, and attorneys. Collaborate with Corps Officers, Donor Relations Directors (Major Gifts), and Development staff to provide donors with exceptional service and collaborate with site/donor visits. Metrics Coordinate a minimum of two gift planning proposals per week. Make a minimum of ten substantive phone calls per week. Make a minimum of twenty written communications per week (e.g., thank‑you cards, birthday cards). Participate in seminars as requested. Report all communication activities in the CRM and all gift production in the Gift Report module. Marketing Complete and update a multi‑channel Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP) annually based on the template provided by Territorial Headquarters. Implement all DGP Forecast and Marketing Plan (FMP) throughout the year at the direction of the DGP. Work with divisional and territorial staff and vendors to ensure all marketing activities operate as planned. Training Participate in all DGP trainings as follows: Monthly DGP Training call. Annual twelve‑week training session. Annual technical training conference and kindred sessions. All territorial and mentor scheduled training sessions. Other Work within the established framework, policies, and organization of the division and territory. Conduct activities within the territorial gift acceptance policies. Adhere to all territorial standards and policies regarding the gift‑planning program. Refrain from signing any legal commitments on behalf of The Salvation Army. Refrain from any personal gain because of donor contacts; accept no gratuities or gifts and allow no bequest or remainder interest to be designated to the individual representing The Salvation Army. Other duties as assigned. Physical Requirements Qualified individuals must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation. Responsibilities include walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching with hands and arms, and regularly lifting up to 20 pounds, frequently up to 40 pounds, and occasionally up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must also operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, and understand written information. Communication The position requires professional verbal communication with co‑workers, other departments, program staff, donors, vendors; telephone use; responding to written or verbal requests; giving verbal and written instructions; receiving instructions; writing, composing written language; reading; visiting/working at other work sites and non‑worksite locations; communicating via latest technologies.
